More InformationLas Ketchup is a music group founded by the Muñoz sisters Pilar, Lola and Lucia, the daughters of the “tomato”.
They achieved musical success in 2002 with Aserejé, a theme song that merges flamenco and Europop and becomes the song of the summer after having topped the charts of many countries, including Spain, Great Britain, Bulgaria, Italy, France, Finland and Sweden , Norway, Belgium, Netherlands, Portugal, Switzerland, Germany, Romania, Chile, Peru, Cuba, Uruguay, Colombia, Venezuela, Mexico, Brazil, Argentina, Bolivia, Dominican Republic, Ecuador, Paraguay, Puerto Rico, El Salvador, Honduras, Nicaragua, Panama and Costa Rica.
The song, which was called “The Ketchup Song” in non-Spanish-speaking countries, was accompanied by a characteristic choreography, and the text of the choir was reminiscent of the first verses of the song “Rapper’s Delight” by the American hip-hop trio “The Sugarhill Gang”, an obvious resemblance that the composer of Aserejé, Manuel Ruiz Queco Yones, recreated to a parody in an original way.
In 2006 they released their second studio album entitled “Un Bloody Mary” and represented Spain with the theme song at the Eurovision Song Contest in Athens (Greece).
After ten years of inactivity for personal reasons, they were invited to the first semi-finals of the 2016 Melodifestivalen in Gothenburg (Sweden), where they played their classic, the world-famous Aserejé.
A year later, in 2017, they surprisingly reappeared at the “Pa’l Norte Festival” in Monterrey (Mexico). This was one of the surprises of this big show, which was very well received by the Mexican audience.
After moving away from the Spanish music scene for more than 13 years, they have returned with a lot of energy and enthusiasm to take their aserejé and their other Ragatanga-style songs on their new tour. The group with the original cast will visit the most important cities in Spain and the most famous stages in Europe.
